13.569. I really hate the fact that kpop gets unnecessary hate

  • 4 months ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’ve seen some people explain why they hate kpop so much and it’s always the same crap “i cant understand the lyrics” Like, ofc you cant! ITS IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE “they all look like girls/ they all look the same” NO THEY FRICKING DONT. if you actaully cared to look at their faces and see the differences, you wouldn’t think that. Stop being racist. Also, there are idols that aren’t asian, so you’re just being rude to them “the music sucks!” Okay, and? It just doesn’t suit your taste, saying it sucks is exaggerating “the guys wear make up, it looks gay/ they act gay”. Do i even need to explain this? EVERY CELEBRITY WEARS MAKE UP. And also, they do not “act gay”, they are just showing their affection toward each other, and stop being homophobic “they have no talent” THEY DO. why do you think kpop got so popular? They can rap, sing, and dance perfectly fine. In fact, they are amazing at it. They can dance perfectly synchronized too “the fans are unhinged” not all of them are tho? Stop judging the entirety of the fanbase based on a small part of the fandom. Everyone is different. People should rly stop hating on kpop for no apparent reason submitted by /u/Beautiful-Vast7545 [link] [comments]

  • 4 months ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Hello everyone! We are excited to take a trip back in time to revisit some K-Pop classics once again, continuing with this rate, the "Early Gen 3" Girl Groups Rate! (If you haven't already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to ensure that you stay updated on future rate-related posts!) Quick Links: Ballot submission: Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot // Ballot template (Google Docs ver.) // Ballot template (Pastebin) Playlists: Spotify // Youtube (Audio ver.) // Youtube (Lyrics ver.) // Youtube (MV ver.) Deadline: July 7th (Monday), 11:59 Pacific (Link to a timezone converter) How the songs were selected: We used the /r/kpop Top Ten Tuesdays results to grab the most adored songs from each of the artists on Reddit, and we also had a songlist feedback survey on /r/kpoprates to help decide the songlist! Now, without further ado, let's introduce the 55 songs (& 7 bonus songs) that were selected for this rate, ordered chronologically for each artist (artists were also ordered by debut date): . Spica: Russian Roulette You Don’t Love Me EXID: Every Night Up & Down Ah Yeah Hot Pink Night Rather Than Day DDD I Love You HelloVenus: Wiggle Wiggle I’m ill Mysterious Crayon Pop: Bar Bar Bar AOA: Miniskirt Short Hair Like a Cat Heart Attack Good Luck 10 Seconds Excuse Me FIESTAR: One More You’re Pitiful Ladies’ Code: Pretty Pretty Galaxy The Rain BESTie: Love Options Excuse me Mamamoo: Piano Man You’re the Best Décalcomanie Starry Night Egotistic Wind Flower Gogobebe HIP Laboum: Journey to Atlantis Hwi Hwi Lovelyz: Ah-Choo Destiny WoW! Now, We That Day Sonamoo: Friday Night GFriend: Me Gustas Tu Rough Navillera Fingertip Time For The Moon Night Apple Mago Brave Girls: Deepened Rollin’ We Ride Chi Mat Ba Ram After We Ride . Bonus Rate: The bonus rate is basically an extension of the main rate! There were several songs that received high praise during the songlist feedback survey that still were barely not able to make the main rate, so we have put them into the bonus rate here to give them a chance to be rated. . EXID - Lady HelloVenus - Venus Crayon Pop - FM Fiestar - Mirror Ladies’ Code - Bad Girl Laboum - Between Us GFriend - Labyrinth . The Bonus Rate is optional and you do not have to submit a score for every song in the bonus list if you do it: you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating. Spotify playlist YouTube playlist (MV version) YouTube playlist (Audio version) YouTube playlist (Lyrics version) Rules: You must listen to and assign a score to EVERY song listed. If your ballot is missing any scores it will not be eligible and you'll be sent a message asking you to fill in the missing scores. Each song should be assigned a score between 1 to 10. Decimals up to one point are allowed but any further is a no-no – 6.9 is fine, but 6.99 is not. You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0). Comments are encouraged and much appreciated (but not required, except for if you give a 0) and can be added to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so: Hip: 2.4 Ofc the title track that utilizes Mamamoo's vocal power the least ends up becoming the most popular (yells angrily at cloud) This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program. You can also give comments for individual artists! Just write your comment after the :, such as the following: EXID: Are they pronounced like "exit" or are you supposed to say every letter separately? I'll never know For this rate and most future rates, we have a ballot average minimum of 4.00. In addition, if your ballot average is between 4.00-5.50, you must leave comments on your lower scores (which we define as any score that's a 3 or lower). {Do not worry about having to calculate your ballot average, once you submit your ballot, we will tell you if you need to make changes to your ballot for it to be accepted.} SUBMITTING A BALLOT: * Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot As Reddit is (unfortunately) moving away from the private messaging system in favor of utilizing the Reddit chat system, we are forced to also adopt the Reddit chat system for messaging. You can make a copy of either the Google Docs or Pastebin ballot templates below, add your scores on your local copy/file, and send the link to your local copy/file in your Reddit Chat message to u/KpopRates_Ghost. * Google Docs ballot template * Pastebin ballot template Google spreadsheet template that you can use to calculate averages, record scores, and make predictions Alternatively, if you have Discord, you can message the link to your ballot to both the rate hosts, @Zypker124 and @aidshha. Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. 1. What do you think about JYPE prioritizing good attitude above skills and visuals in trainees?

  • 17 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I just watched a Chimchakman podcast episode that was uploaded some months ago where NMIXX were the guests. At one point, the host brought up JYPE’s monthly evaluations, and Haewon shared her thoughts on what it really takes to debut as an idol. She said it’s not simply about having the best visuals or the strongest skills. Those alone don’t guarantee anything. Other factors like “star quality” or whether you fit the concept of the group the label is building also may come into play, but the one factor she highlighted above all was timing and luck. She explained that even if a trainee has all the talent and star quality in the world, if the company isn’t planning to debut a boy group at that time, there’s no chance. And as trainees get older, their chances shrink even more, since in the unfortunate reality of the industry, age often works against them. The NMIXX girls reinforced that point by recalling that they had seen far too many trainees who clearly had what it takes to debut, but whose opportunities slipped away because of circumstances like that. Diving into the core of the discussion, they went deeper into the topic of monthly evaluations. When it came to the monthly evaluations, Haewon clarified that they aren’t exactly score-based. Instead, JYPE looks at whether trainees are improving or stagnating to decide if they should continue training. More than anything else, though, “daily attitude/behavior” and “class evaluations” carried the most weight. It’s not that the monthly evaluations are meaningless per se, but day-to-day conduct mattered most. A trainee could have the best visuals, incredible vocals, and flawless dancing, but if their attitude is poor, their chances took a massive hit. According to her, JYPE even has a point penalty system similar to Korean schools. Trainees who accumulate penalty points from poor behavior and daily conduct can be suspended, and in the worst cases, expelled altogether. This lines up with something I’d read before. Back in 2018, on a Japanese community post, Mako’s mother (from NiziU) gave advice to another parent asking about JYPE trainee life. She explained that the company values character more than raw talent. In her words, trainees are expected to show proper lifestyle habits and personal growth. If they don’t, and even slightly display a bad attitude, their contracts can be terminated immediately. And of course, we’ve also all heard TWICE members talk about how much importance JYPE places on maintaining good character for the trainees. I found all of this really interesting because if I were running a label myself, I probably would’ve leaned toward prioritizing the most talented or best looking trainees first and foremost. Of course, attitude matters, but as long as they're not committing major crimes, I’m not sure if I’d put it above everything else the way JYPE does. Maybe I’m just biased because I’ve always had a soft spot for the rebellious types. What do you guys think? Is JYPE too strict with enforcing good character, or is this actually the smarter long-term approach compared to chasing pure talent and visuals? This is the link to the full episode if anyone's interested in watching. submitted by /u/Acrobatic_Prize_7749 [link] [comments]

2. Aespa stans are probably the most unbearable K-pop fans right now

  • 18 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Honestly, I don’t think any fandom causes as much chaos as aespa stans do. It feels like almost every hate train in recent years has their fingerprints on it. Whenever a new girl group starts gaining traction, they’re right there spreading rumors, flooding hate, and making unnecessary comparisons. The most ironic part is how they love to lecture everyone about “misogyny in K-pop,” but they’re probably the most misogynistic fandom out there. The way they talk about other female idols is disgusting: reducing talented artists to “aespa copycats,” attacking looks, sexualizing them, or downplaying their achievements. As if aespa were the only girl group that deserves success. And now, more recently, they’ve started throwing hate at Cortis (who aren’t even direct competition). Like… what’s the point? It’s not enough to attack groups in the same lane, they have to go after anyone who gets attention. The problem isn’t liking aespa (no one’s blaming the girls themselves, they’re talented), it’s the fandom acting like they have the right to be judge, jury, and executioner of the whole industry. They talk about misogyny but reinforce it every single day by tearing down other women in the industry. They preach “peace in K-pop,” but they’re the ones fueling hate trains nonstop. At the end of the day, aespa stans have become exactly what they claim to fight against. submitted by /u/Sensitive-Wing1066 [link] [comments]

3. I think fans themselves are the reason K-pop is so boring nowadays

  • 1 hour ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but K-pop is getting more and more boring — and honestly, I think most of the blame goes to the fans themselves. Back then, groups could experiment more, release different concepts, idols had space to show personality and even make human mistakes. Now, it feels like everything has to be “perfect” because every tiny slip turns into a hate wave. Literally no one can breathe wrong without trending on Twitter. This creates a toxic environment where companies and idols end up always choosing the safest path, resulting in songs, concepts, and even interactions that feel increasingly generic. Another point is how fandoms are constantly at war with each other. Instead of supporting music, creativity, or performance, everything becomes a competition: “Who has more views?”, “Who got more wins?”, “Whose fancam went viral?”. This mindset suffocates any attempt at innovation, because the fear of flopping or becoming a joke weighs more than artistic risk-taking. And let’s not even start with the obsession over visuals. Idols are discarded for not fitting into the unrealistic beauty standard that fans themselves reinforce. At the same time, talented idols get hated on for the most random things — from their accent, to their looks, to simply being too popular. This discourages both the artists and the industry. In the end, I don’t think K-pop became boring because idols lost talent or creativity, but because the fandom culture turned into a machine of pressure and toxicity. Companies just follow whatever causes “less trouble,” idols hide who they are, and everything ends up looking the same. Anyway, that’s just my opinion. Does anyone else feel this way, or am I overreacting? submitted by /u/Sensitive-Wing1066 [link] [comments]

4. It's unfortunate that in K-Pop favouritism it's based on visuals only.

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

More specifically, I'm talking about Giselle and even more specific i'm talking about clothes. I hate when groups have this only member looking so different from the rest, like standing out in a way if feels like a feat. At first, I thought this type of mistreatment was inexistent, and actually a strategy from companies to us make more big of a deal with these less known idols but this is rarely used. I just realized it's just more of a "filler member" thing. Like in 2nd gen when this type of mistreatment was seen with Hyoyeon, but people didn't care at all since she was just considered a side rapper/dancer right along with her visuals which weren't acceptable in the KBS so it was just like "Oh, she's ugly so her clothes doesn't matter at all". Like with Wendy Red Velvet, Jeongyeon from Twice and many others big girl groups who's company don't care about them visually so treat them as "Fillers" or how I like to call:Feats who have a position. It's crazy that you can't be one of the most important parts (Technically speaking) in your group, but still if you're not incredibly stunning your company will throw you at the back. If you're years in a group, it'll definitely make a big deal for me how your company treats you. It's a competitive place, you can be replaced anytime, but when you already earned your spot and your company still acts like you're some replaceable trainee it's really disrespectful. I would be like "Btch? Part of me makes you gain money, dumbass." And while I'm talking about AESPA, NingNing was also a "Victim" of ugly clothes and being in the back, but she lost enough weight to be seem again by her company and that's my best guess because In their debut/comeback she was also caught with some ridiculous fits too. The fact she's a lead vocalist has not much to do about it. submitted by /u/0110I1I [link] [comments]

6. Lsfm really make it look easy, don't they?

Gosh... I love watching this group! These girls really know how to sell a performance. They work the camera effortlessly and just radiate charisma. Lately, I’ve also noticed how much better they’ve gotten with fan interactions. I’ve never been someone who’s into aegyo, but they really know how to make it work without making it feel too forceful. Everything they do just feels so natural and easy. We’re honestly blessed to have a group like this in this era. They have good discography, ethereal vocals, and captivating dancing, they truly have it all. My only regret is not being able to see them live during this tour... please, I’m begging you HYBE and Source Music... add more cities next time. I've been vicariously experiencing the concert through fancams but it just makes me even more upset that I’m not there T.T submitted by /u/Carelessies [link] [comments]

7. LE SSERAFIM is probably one of the groups with the most relaxed career growth, moving at a steady pace without feeling pressured.

LE SSERAFIM is probably the 4th-generation group with the best balance of growth and stability in their career right now. They’ve been doing well with each of their comebacks, but their growth feels more stable—not too overwhelming, and of course, not underwhelming either. Their stats for each comeback have been consistently growing at a good pace. That said, I think that’s a good thing because they don’t have too much pressure for each release to top the previous one. As a result, they have more freedom to explore, which is also why their music is diverse yet still consistent with their fearless identity. submitted by /u/why_dmn [link] [comments]

-ZBTVing (World tour Special), not the typical 20 minutes episodes, good 1 hour long ones, traveling in each members hometown/homecountries and that members become the "tour guide" for the trip. As a Canadian Zerose, nothing would make me happier than seeing them visit Vancouver and Matthew showing them around the city! -Matthew's cooking show, imma need the recipe to his protein pancakes to see if Ricky is truly on to something... -Gyuvin & Hanbin mukbang show trying out different restaurants and cuisines. I absolutely love the 2binz vlogs, they mostly go to restaurants in them so i feel like a mukbang series would be accurate to them -Zhanh Hao's hotpot variety show, he mentioned multiple times that he wants to open his own Hotpot restaurant in Korea, i would love for him to have his own show, invite guest, have hotpot together and discuss abt anything, I feel like it's only right for Yuqi to be the first guest -More of the members original songs and writting process behind the scenes -Say Yes by Matthew on Spotify, PLEASE!! submitted by /u/42_Yudoz [link] [comments]

10. My experience with girl groups and fanboys (positive)

  • reddit.com language

I’m a woman and I mostly listen to GGs and attend GG concerts. Recently I’ve been wanting to share some appreciation with the fanboys that truly show up for and support their fave groups. I think there’s often a question that comes up about why BGs tend to have more successful fandoms than GGs, and I think the answer is simple: a lot of women prefer bgs and a lot of men prefer ggs, but society views this kind of fan behavior as “feminine”, and discourages men who engage in it. Both toxic masculinity not allowing men to express themselves that way, and women who deem it as “weird” or “creepy”. But that has totally not been my experience. I recently went to VIVIZ and was super impressed by all the fanboys who were super excited to engage with the show, sing and dance along and just support their faves. I also went to LSFM and handed out freebies and all the fanboys I met were super polite and respectful, appreciated the freebies and complimented my outfit just like it was BG show. One of my fave groups, QWER, is touring soon and their fanbase is known for being majority male. All the Bawiges I’ve been chatting with leading up to the tour are super nice and supportive of the banner project and freebies I’m planning to make. Some people at other stops have also planned banners as well. As a GG stan it sometimes feels like an uphill battle when it comes to getting people hyped up to support them, so whenever I see fanboys being super active and engaging and supporting their faves fully, it truly makes me happy. And it’s a side note, but female fans of BGs can also be extremely weird and creepy. We’ve recently had incidents like a fan at Ateez send off asking one of them (San or Mingi?) if he “prefers chocolate or vanilla”, had a fan try to kiss Jin without consent, women showing up in lingerie in fancalls, and fully grown women lusting after underage members of Cortis. There’s issues and weirdos in all fandoms and while I’m sure I’m bound to meet some weirdo fanboys as well, I just don’t find the idea that fanboys are somehow weirder than fangirls to be fair or true at all. I know the social climate in Korea also may be different, so I’m just talking about my experience as an American meeting other American fans. submitted by /u/talixsims [link] [comments]

13. I feel like I’ve became disconnected from Kpop lately

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I’ve always had a problem with social media. I was constantly exposed to a lot of toxicity, like fanwars and other bad stuff. At some point, I realized it was making me feel really bad, so I decided to take a break. I started with Twitter: I deleted my main account that I used for 2 years and kept only one account that was more chill, then I did the same with TikTok, and I started using that time to watch shows, draw, and listen to music. This helped since I’m exposed to much less negativity. At the same time, though, I’ve inevitably stopped keeping up with my favs, and that makes me a little sad. I know if I went back to my old routine, I’d get stressed again, I’ve always been very active in fandom spaces, constantly following updates, and now not doing that feels strange honestly. I know rationally it’s not necessary to know everything, but after being used to it for so long, it just feels weird, I feel like I’m kinda disconnected. I don’t know if this is normal or if this feeling will pass. I wouldn’t say my anxiety is gone, since it goes far beyond social media and I still have work to do on it, but for now the situation it’s strange but okay. I’ve been a kpop stan for quite a while. I love kpop, but lately it feels like it’s brought me more negative experiences than positive ones. Maybe the best way to enjoy it would be to stay away from fandom spaces and just be a listener, even if that means missing out on many things about my favs. submitted by /u/ForceApprehensive597 [link] [comments]

14. Kpop Reddit has become more biased

  • 4 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I'm not going to pretend like Kpop subreddits have always been some holy place that's unbiased. Before there was definitely SM bias, groups such as EXO, Shinee, Red Velvet, SNSD tended to garner positive comments and be more resistant to criticism while some other SM groups like NCT and aespa were always up for grabs as they were seen as the "noisy" stain in SM's history. Stray Kids, Enhypen, Blackpink, etc have always been unwelcome. And girl groups tended to have hate trains over boy groups. However, in recent times it's become stifling. I'd say around the time that NewJeans' lawsuit dropped. There's been an influx of brigading, people following you around other subs just to downvote you, and while you've always had to have some level of respect towards others, you now have to abide by unspoken rules on who can be constructively criticized and who you can only post glowing reviews about. It feels like getting policed by someone breathing in your ear. And I'm not going to sidestep the elephant in the room. Yes, BTS is incredibly criticized and oftentimes it can be incredibly unfair to them. I've defended them at times myself. Bodyshaming, blaming them for world politics, blaming them for every ice cream a child has dropped, etc. It's clear they're held to another standard than other groups. But people can't have a level-headed discussion on something negative about them without getting 6 Army actually harassing them. Or discuss that their fandom has done inappropriate things like stalking people, harassing idols, brigading and gaslighting people who speak out. So much so that a decent amount of a people feel silenced. They can't talk without their posts getting mass reported because there is no middle ground where yeah, BTS can be well-meaning guys who've helped take Kpop to another level but have had human mistakes and while most of their fans are quite lovely (genuinely, some of the most generous kpop fans I've met were Army), the minority of them are... simply hard to deal with. And I don't think that's a hot take. I ult aespa, they can make boneheaded decisions and I'll be the first to say MYs are amongst the most insufferable haters of kpop. A lot of subreddits have become Hybe group focused including the most popular one, the so-called "uncensored" subreddit. Where negative posts about BTS disappear, groups "competing" with Hybe groups freely get hate, etc. I find it incredibly hilarious that it's been 24 hours since my post that's about defending aespa against a hate train is still under moderator approval for the "uncensored" subreddit. Mind you, I criticize aespa myself in it, it's far from glowing praise for them. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule with the unofficial Hybe subs. Enhypen is free game. And you can criticize HYBE girl groups because quite honestly, a lot of them are treated as token girl groups where their achievements are celebrated but the second you criticize them and it leads to boy groups like TXT or BTS, that's when hell breaks loose. There is a reason why that Kpopthoughts post about being downvoted for talking about groups turned into a "that fandom who shall not be named makes it hard to talk freely" session. Funnily enough, since the change in dynamics, I feel like people have become more resentful from the policing that they in turn become more hateful towards HYBE groups when it's not their fault that their fandoms have taken over Kpop reddits. So the staunch defense for Hybe groups and free-for-all for other groups ends up with Hybe groups getting hated more. TL;DR: The "HYBE takeover" including their fandom's behavior has made free discussion harder. submitted by /u/Breezyrain [link] [comments]
