Chanyeol just released his new album and song and itâs literally so good? It made me feel like i was a teenager from the early 2000s kind of Avril Lavigne vibe, itâs definitely different than what all these groups and KPOP idols have been recently, need more people to talk about it, the whole album is amazing ! submitted by /u/bbhexos [link] [comments]
As the title says what are your favorite what ifs in kpop? Some of my favorites: Allegedly Idk if Lee Sooman ever confirmed or not but it's been rumored that Red Velvet was going to have an unlimited member system like NCT after Yeri debuted in the group but the negative reception to RV no longer being OT4 put a stop on that and they remained as the OT5 we know today. Another one of my favorite is BLACKPINK when they were originally PINK PUNK with seven or eight members they were supposed to be YG's answer to SNSD but with girl crush submitted by /u/jdpm1991 [link] [comments]

I'm a casual listener of straykids I don't think I've ever listened to a whole album by them but I do tune in to title tracks and I usually really like straykids title tracks but this one felt lacking and not in the MV because straykids always have really good MVs but I couldn't get into the song and I wasn't sure why at first so after a couple listens I realized I didn't really like the chorus or the ending but I'm pretty sure I've seen that this song is doing really well along with the album so I wanna know what others opinions are about this song from stays and casual listeners like me. If you like it why you like it and if you don't why you don't. submitted by /u/GoodVibes10000 [link] [comments]

I think the amount of time spent refining a relatively few songs for the soundtrack is part of itâs success. Ian Eisendrath, the executive music producer, said it was the longest film project he worked on. He also said Golden âhad five to six songs written for that slot.â Ejae and cowriter Mark Sonnenblick talked about working ânearly five yearsâ on the songs. Composer Daniel Rojas, who brought in Ejae, posted about it being âthe longest and most involved project of my career.â Ian was also the vocal producer. He talked about having Ejae record hundreds of times to authentically sound like her voice was breaking. It sounds intense, but it seems like working on this movie helped Ejae discover her ability. Andrew Choi (Jinuâs singing voice) did an interview a few days ago and talked about what an unexpected, crazy experience it was to work with Ian on the songs. Andrew said âI never knew that a single word could be that importantâŠthere were just particular words that he had me sing like literally 20, 30, 40 timesâ (full video here.) Ian gave Andrew detailed directions on what the scene would be like and how to embody the character. It shows the obsessiveness to get the songs to where they are. Itâs only 7 original songs in the soundtrack, and a few more short songs that are only in the movie, like Hunterâs Mantra. The time they had to reject earlier versions and refine such a small amount of songs seems impossible in Kpop. I saw that Ejae had posted a picture with an earlier version of Golden with an extra Mira verse (last slide here), and it does seem better without those lyrics. This kind of relentless refinement is like Steve Jobsâ design saying, âthere are a thousand nos for every yes.â Meaning instead of trying to do everything, just focus on delivering a few things that are your absolute best, like Appleâs limited line of products. But also exploring and rejecting a lot of ideas. Big 4 sound Itâs interesting that KDH has some representation or connection to each company, or its artist. I noticed this when I saw Andrew Choi is still with SM (interview says he taught classes at SM Universe Singapore.) Itâs most direct with Twice. Black Label is part owned by YG; despite a minority stake, YG discloses on its own financial statements that it is a controlling authority. KDH has an indirect connection to BTS, with Jenna Andrews and Stephen Kirk behind Butter and Permission to Dance. (Andrews also vocal produced Dynamite.) These two did make entirely different songs, Free and What It Sounds Like, partly from taking advantage of the fluent English of the singers. I also think they did it to show their own lyrical range. submitted by /u/hyeran_jainros_fc [link] [comments]
So, I'm new to K-pop, but I know what goes on since I'm involved in other K-pop fan-dominated fandoms like BL and anime. However, I'm a bit confused about the genres, kind of like how I'll put it. I've been really into CORTIS because it's similar to a lot of Western artists I listen to in terms of fun rap and experimental sounds. But I'm confused as to why they're classified as K-pop. They themselves mentioned in an interview that they feel like they transcend genres such as rock, rap, etc. I guess Iâm just not sure why they fall under K-pop. Wouldnât they be classified more as rap or something else? Their song "GO" sounds a lot like Travis Scott, and he wouldnât be classified as pop, so I think I'm just looking for the reasons behind this classification. Side note: completely unrelated, but I'm so excited to dive into K-pop! I feel it's right up my alley, and I guess I'm talking about it because I haven't really shared my excitement with anyone yet. Eek! I love starting a new fandomâit's so fun! I hope I really find a new interest in this and connect with people. đ«°đ«¶ Also, this is not AI-generated. I just use Grammarly to fix spelling. submitted by /u/Feisty-Guard-5809 [link] [comments]
I donât know if this counts as a K-pop rant or a K-pop adjacent rant, but whatever. I just donât get the KDH discourse lately. There are so many takes floating around like, âKDH is successful because theyâre doing something sonically other K-pop acts wonât do,â âKDH is popular because they donât pander to the West,â and âKDH topping the charts proves the general public actually likes K-pop, they just donât want to give real K-pop a chance.â But honestly? None of that really holds up. First off, casual music listeners arenât the ones driving KDHâs streams. Itâs mostly young kids and preexisting kpoppers. And the songs themselves arenât exactly revolutionary. Golden is basically just I Am by Ive, How Itâs Done sounds eerily similar to Domino by Stray Kids, and This Is What It Sounds Like is literally All Night by Icona Pop, which Ive also covered recently. And about that whole âKDH doesnât pander to the Westâ narrative? Come on. Most of the KDH songs are mostly in English. Thereâs really not much difference between KDHâs biggest hits and the K-pop songs people love to drag for âpandering to Western audiences.â The only difference is that one is tied to a Netflix movie and the other isnât. The only reason Huntrixâs music blew up compared to those songs is because itâs tied to a massively successful Netflix kidsâ movie. Kids are streaming it on repeat. Thatâs the whole formula. As for the argument that âpeople who think K-pop is cringe love KDHâ? Yeah⊠no. Outside of a handful of TikToks like âIâm a K-pop hater but Golden is peak!!â (which are usually either pandering or the result of having the soundtrack drilled into their brain because their little sister wonât stop replaying the movie) most people who think K-pop is cringe also think KDH is cringe. The general perception hasnât really shifted. At the end of the day, KDH didnât do anything revolutionary. They just found the right audience at the right time. I donât get people dragging K-pop in the name of KDH when all KDH did was bite off preexisting K-pop acts and other already popular songs. submitted by /u/Next-Library-0 [link] [comments]
