The KG lawsuit SEVERELY hauled their progress. When a member publicly accused the company of child labor, mistreatment, and abuse, it doesn’t matter how much JYP denies it, the harm is done. Western media picked it up, and that was their main audience. Even if some claims were exaggerated the trust is gone. Then there’s Kaylee’s departure after being on a “health hiatus” for over a year. Losing two members so early, one due to a lawsuit and another to health issues, destroys any stability the group had. Whether or not her situation related to KG’s claims, the optics are terrible. It makes the group look unstable and poorly managed. The rebrand to Girlset feels like a last effort to fix their image, but it’s clearly not working. Their new comeback had a smaller budget, weaker styling, and barely any promotion. For a JYP group, that’s a bad sign. You can tell when the company loses faith in a project because everything suddenly appears cheaper and quieter. It doesn’t matter that they’re under JYP. Many people assume that being with a “big 4” label guarantees success, but that’s simply true. Boy Story is a perfect example. JYP tried to push them as the next big Chinese boy group, and it completely flopped. They also had a scandal (which shouldn’t classified as a scandal but an underage member being victimized). The company has a history of experimental projects that don’t take off, and Girlset seems to be following that same path. They never had a clear identity. VCHA aimed to be a global project between the U.S and Korea which was apparent as they had a more bubblegum pop image in comparison to most western girl groups. But after the scandal, the international audience lost trust. They also never had had much appeal domestically. Now they’re stuck in the middle, not big in either market, with four members and no strong concept to rely on. Honestly, I think JYP will just move on to other projects. This was a massive loss financially and reputationally, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they shift their focus to something like L2K (Latin to Korea) or even a boy version of A2K, maybe called Boyset or something similar. That’s how JYP usually manages failed experiments; they quietly start working on the next one. I think if none of this happened, they could’ve established themselves into something like NiziU but with a western take. Golden is closing in on 1,500 PAKs (it’s at 1.48k as I’m writing this, so maybe just a day away from hitting 1.5k). KDH is really a phenomenon, and Golden has a strong hold on kcharts right now. Actually, it’s not just Golden, Soda Pop is right behind at #2, and other songs from the movie are also sustaining in the charts. How fascinating is this? We’ve had releases from BLACKPINK, IVE, aespa, Lim Young Woong, and even IU dropped a song recently (though not a full comeback), some releases did disrupt the PAK temporarily but Golden managed to reclaim its streak and is holding strong. As we all know, akgaes are very toxic groups of people. But ive always wondered how these people are in real life. And if they say the gross things they do online. I cant imagine akgaes are happy and normal people. Especially with the amount of delusion and gross behavior I've seen from them. Ive heard plenty of stories about meeting koreaboos, sasaengs, shippers and antis but no akgaes. And by akgaes, I mean the toxic people that hate all the members except the one they stan and believe they're being mistreated. So yeah, share your story if you have any, even if its a positive interaction with a normal solo stan (if they exist). I know this topic probably was talked about but i just want to see if its really okey since i am really hesistant. So i know its dumb but i am 18 and female and recently the new girl group catched my eye Hearts2hearts and i really love them but its first time since i am older then 4 members and my favourite is ian which i am a bit more than 2 years older. I dont know if this is okey but i want to bias her and by that i mean also collecting her merch. I've always seen people complaining about this group have great vocals but mostly lipsing plus lack stage presence and need a back up dancers to deliver a good performance. And this group have great stage presence and don't need a back up dancers but have a weak/mediocre vocals. Then the answer to all those complains are nmixx because they have both of those things that people crave so much in a group. So why people didn't stan them and make them the 4th gen leader and one of the biggest group in kpop?? This post is not to glorigy YG's promotion.It is just my observation.I have seen many people bashing YG and how YG wasted their potential by givibg them limited comeback. But what I think that it was what YG intended.Blackpink was never the bubbly, girl next door group. Yg always wanted to potray them as elegent, high-end, classy polished celebrity, by limiting their visibility. They attended limited variety show and performed on limited music shows as compared to their peers.YG very particular about the Blackpink girl's event attendance.Also having comebacks after 1.5 or 2 years is common in western pop industry. So, why people claim that having limited cb means not promoted well.
