Every time I scroll main K-pop subs or apps, it's all sanitized bullshit - companies burying scandals, fans downvoting anything negative. Like, I wanna know the tea on that HYBE mess without the PR spin. Here we can talk uncensored, so spill: what's your go-to for unfiltered schedules and drops? submitted by /u/FerrisBuelersdaycock [link] [comments]
Pretty simple game: you comment any group (or soloist), and I’ll reply with what I think is their best and worst title track. 👀 Feel free to name multiple groups if you want! Let’s see how many I can get through! Note: I don’t know much about 5th gen groups yet, so my answers might be limited there. submitted by /u/Odd-Cat02 [link] [comments]
As some of you may know, YT Music is now by far the most widely used streaming platform in Korea, taking up nearly two-thirds of the market share (Melon sits at around 30% these days). The GP largely relies on YT Music as their primary source for listening while Melon has become more of a stronghold for dedicated idol fandoms. So with that in mind, here's a look at the top 10 most listened idols on YT Music to see who both fans and the GP have been streaming the most over the past year. *This ranking is limited to idols (not all artists) *The data was gathered over the span of ~52 weeks (1 year frame) from top weekly songs and the total sum determined the ranking. *(M = million) BG & Soloists (Top 10) 10. Saja Boys (120M) – Hard to believe they’ve cracked the top 10 after just three months of debut. 9. Stray Kids (134M) – Fascinating to see the contrast between their massive international standing and more modest domestic numbers. 8. N.Flying (140M) – While not huge overseas, their recognition in Korea has steadily grown. 7. BOYNEXTDOOR (154M) – The only 5th-gen boy group on the list, a strong showing for rookies. 6. WOODZ (182M) – Incredible that he’s this high essentially off the back of Drowning. A true mega hit. 5. BTS (197M) – The boys remain a global powerhouse, and still secure 5th place domestically. 4. SEVENTEEN (260M) – Their music resonates even more with the Korean GP than it does internationally. 3. G-Dragon (431M) – His first comeback since 2017, and the numbers are absolutely bonkers for a soloist. 2. BIGBANG (439M) – Nearly a decade without full group activity, yet they soar to 2nd. Just mind-blowing longevity. Korea's most beloved BG indeed. 1. Day6 (617M) – Crazy numbers. This band has an undeniable grip on the GP. At this point, people will stream anything Day6 puts out. Major props. GG & Soloists (Top 10) 10. LE SSERAFIM (188M) – 4th gen GG with multiple hits secure their spot at #10. 9. Jennie (209M) – Like Jennie was a smash, and her album has been embraced by both fans and GP. 8. Taeyeon (210M) – SNSD’s powerhouse vocalist continues to prove why she’s one of K-pop’s most successful soloists. Longevity at its finest. 7. BLACKPINK (240M) – Their long awaited group comeback and tour solidify their place here. Not surprising for one of K-pop’s biggest names. 6. QWER (290M) – Their anime-coded, nostalgia tinged sound has clearly struck a chord on GP. Surpassing some of the names below them is quite a big surprise. 5. Rosé (321M) – Apateu, Apateu. Enough said. 4. IVE (344M) – A string of 2025 releases in Attitude, Rebel Heart, and XOXZ keeps their momentum strong and lands them at #4. 3. NJ (361M) – Not too shabby for a group that’s been inactive. 2. IU (430M) – She’s been putting up numbers like this since 2010. Her career is untouchable at this point. 1. aespa (549M) – The undisputed winners of 2024. Supernova and Whiplash continue to dominate replayability. Whiplash is still putting up better numbers than Dirty Work despite it being a nearly one year old song. They would have to release a huge hit to maintain the top spot in this ranking next year. Nonetheless, the number 1 spot is very well deserved. submitted by /u/Organic-Cranberry955 [link] [comments]
BTS just is it y'all. BTS is love. BTS is life. Hell yeah. (I'm so sorry I just felt like being annoying. I'm extremely bored, downvote this as much as you want it would be my pleasure. Feel free to comment and insult me too I'd love that too.) submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]
https://x.com/itzypopbase/status/1967267479618793977 I'm sorry but this whole situation is just stupid... This is apparently the third time she's mentioned something like this to the OP (in front of staff too lmao). I don't get why they'd do something like that when it gives nobody any benefit. If this actually is true, Ryujin runnnn 😭😭😭 submitted by /u/Gold_Meaning3688 [link] [comments]
I know this title and my post might come across as a drag, but I want to say this because it’s one of the most frequent comments I see under any Cortis video. I love the vibe they give off too, but their entire concept is hyperfocused on creating a carefree, teenage-like, authentic atmosphere. These boys aren’t editing the videos. The lowercase and simple titles, the chill music, the filming with cameras… all of that is still done and thought of by company employees (unless they’ve explicitly said otherwise, which I doubt). It’s not that serious, I know. But at the end of the day, the company is marketing them this way for a reason: fans love how “authentic” it feels, while in reality it’s anything but, since the company is behind all of it. They know that making a band feel authentic makes fans feel closer, like they know the “real them” better. And the stronger that parasocial relationship becomes, the more likely fans are to invest time and money. More streams and money = more profit for the company. I love Cortis, and I really do love their concept. But that’s what it is: a concept. I’m not saying the boys are putting on a full act — obviously parts of their personalities come through. But just because the videos seem like natural moments filmed between them doesn’t mean they haven’t gone through multiple editors, removing anything that doesn’t fit how the company wants them to come across. submitted by /u/Due_Improvement_5699 [link] [comments]
I like covers in general, regardless of ggs or bgs, but this category specifically gotta be one of my favorite things about Kpop. Some of my top performances are: BEAST Fiction cover by ITZY Ryujin, STAYC Isa, i-dle Minnie, IZ*ONE Chaeyeon EXO Love Shot cover by Le Sserafim (Kazuha legit changed lives in that red suit) Taemin Move cover by TWICE Momo, Mina, Chaeyoung, Dahyun Stray Kids Thunderous cover by NMIXX Honorable mentions: Taemin Criminal cover by IZ*ONE Chaeyeon (it's actually criminal that it only lasted 1min) Mamamoo Boy Group Songs Medley What are some of your favorite covers? submitted by /u/beelzebub2099 [link] [comments]
We know it’s never gonna happen (unless we get pandemic 2.0) so let’s play delulu and make our own dream line-up anyway. I would LOVE to see the following groups on Kingdom: Got7 - 3rd gen rep Enhypen and Treasure - very different from each other. The song swaps will go hard MonstaX Boynextdoor Cravity - they won road to kingdom. They should get to be here submitted by /u/fostermonster555 [link] [comments]
When will people realize that Bangchan doesn’t play about stray kids. He’s already gone off in a live last month about respect, so I don’t understand why people still choose to try him. Man when I tell you I like this man more and more each day. Today around midnight pst, Chan posted on bubble saying: “stay_central get your facts straight. Don’t spread misinformation thanks 😊” “Eh I’m not mad lol” “Just tryna fix things” “Anyways it was Hans birthday and it’s Felix’s now” “Go give em lots of love!” “Huh?” “You’re not going to because you’re my solo Stan…?” “Then don’t bother stanning me lol” “Diabolical lol” “Oh now I’m getting kinda mad” I love this!! There has never been a place for akgaes in the kpop community and it’s amazing to have an idol actually put them on blast. I don’t know if someone actually sent him a reply saying that or if he had seen what was going on on Twitter and set up a way to bring up, but either way I’m glad he said something about it. And stay_central was found to be a YouTube account that posts live translations and reels about stray kids. Typical brainrot “info” vids you see when scrolling. I’m not sure which soecific video Chan was calling out, but I assume it’s the one that talks about hyunjin almost joining a cult. The craziest part is that the channel was liking comment a talking tish about Chan. Chan came back around 6 hours later and said this: “I’m really grateful that some people shower me with lots of love…” “But let’s not hate on the other members…” “That’s all I ask for…” “They saved me and I’m blessed to have them after all… ㅠ” “Ey and don’t go hating on the YouTube channel I mentioned earlier either” “In the end we all lack something and we’re all learning no? INCLUDING ME” “Tbh I’m the one that makes the most mistakes no? Hahahaha” “I should be the one doing better… sigh…” “Sorry for being so imperfect…” Then he started talking about cameras and pictures, but anyways I’m glad he spoke up and said something. I hope he didn’t get in any trouble over this and that akgaes will just fully unstan after this. We don’t need them submitted by /u/CleanPossibility256 [link] [comments]

This gotta be one of my favorite things about Kpop. Some of my top performances by female idols covering male songs/choreos are: EXO Love Shot cover by Le Sserafim (Kazuha legit changed lives in that red suit) BEAST Fiction cover by ITZY Ryujin, STAYC Isa, i-dle Minnie, IZ*ONE Chaeyeon Taemin Move cover by TWICE Momo, Mina, Chaeyoung, Dahyun Stray Kids Thunderous cover by NMIXX Taemin Criminal cover by IZ*ONE Chaeyeon (it's literally criminal for KBS to only give her 1min) What are some of your favorite covers? submitted by /u/beelzebub2099 [link] [comments]
What i mean by that is a song that got bad reception from fans or general Public when it was first released because it was so polarizing but after it got performed people started to changed their minds about the song and finally liked it. I think Gnarly by katseye is the prime example of this that's why i said gnarly treatment. Is there any songs by any groups that got that treatment?? submitted by /u/Party-Confection417 [link] [comments]
I need to vent about something I’ve been seeing on Tumblr. There’s this page on Tumblr that flat-out refuse to make edits or lockscreens of Chaeyoung. Their “reason”? The swastika shirt incident from 2023. Like… are we really still on this in late 2025? She already apologized, admitted it was wrong, and deleted the post. She didn’t double down, she didn’t ignore it, she did what everyone always asks idols to do: acknowledge, apologize, and learn. And look, let’s be real about the context. That shirt wasn’t some neo-Nazi merch. It was an old punk aesthetic piece, tied to the Sex Pistols and the whole “shock value/anti-establishment” fashion that often used offensive imagery to provoke. That doesn’t make it okay, obviously, but it’s important to understand it wasn’t Chaeyoung going, “Yeah, I love Nazis.” It was her wearing something she likely didn’t know the full weight of. “We have the right not to be comfortable editing pics of someone with that mentality.” What “mentality”? Chaeyoung has no ideological connection to Nazism. She apologized and acknowledged her mistake. To say that someone who made a mistake out of ignorance has a “Nazi mentality” is dishonest and disproportionate. But these admins act like she committed an unforgivable crime and now they’re on some “moral mission” to exclude her forever. They keep bringing it up whenever someone requests a Chaeyoung edit, and it honestly just feels like they’re enjoying holding onto the drama more than actually caring about what happened. Meanwhile, it’s the fans who lose out. People who like Chaeyoung don’t get content because the admins decided to keep punishing her indefinitely. And honestly, it’s not even activism at that point, it’s just bitterness disguised as righteousness. Plenty of idols have made mistakes, apologized, and moved forward. Why is Chaeyoung being singled out like this? If you really can’t stand her, fine, just say you don’t like her and move on. But stop pretending it’s about “principles” when she’s already shown accountability. It’s exhausting watching this kind of performative grudge-holding. So Verivery posted happy birthday for Minchan on Instagram today and I'm really happy but also so confused. Is this the longest hiatus of any idol? Minchan is one of my ults and I miss him like crazy but I started to figure it was a long shot to hope he would ever come back. But then they posted that. Idk, am I crazy for holding on to hope that he will one day come back to Verivery? And if he doesn't want to or it isn't good for his mental health, that's okay too, I just wish we could know either way. 🥹 submitted by /u/Marps95 [link] [comments]

Came across a video on bilibili (sort of Youtube in China) saying Chinese fans are the most miserable because most Kpop idols can't tour in mainland CN. Similar sentiments can be heard from SEA, South American, African, Australasia and some Europe fans. I don't think it has anything with the idols/ companies "ignore" or "skip" any countries, they don't because they obviously can't. Logistics: not every major city has the necessary infrastructure to accommodate the influx of thousands of concert-goers, the stage set and equipments. Transport, schedule, personel, legal issues, all of these require insane amount of planning and coordinating with local promoter and venues. Venues: nobody can just wake up one day and book a random venue, it has to be booked several months before hand. Sometimes people complain about the size of the venues (too big, too small) but appropriate venues are sometimes booked by local sport teams already. Profit: let's face it touring is expensive, if the demand isn't met once investors tend to get cold feet. Tour promoter taking a chunk out of the revenue isn't helping either. Personally, i don't want my ult group to visit my country because of the profound lack of infrastructure. I understand that it hurts, but that's another thing we have to accept at the end of the day. submitted by /u/lu_tl97 [link] [comments]
You know that innocent but chaotic stage when you first fall into K-pop? Let’s expose our baby stan delusions together 😂 We’ve all been there, scrolling YouTube at 2am, watching random edits, believing every wild thing without questioning it and suddenly you think you know everything about idols and the industry. Then months (or years) later you look back like “Wow, I was so delusional 😭” I feel like every K-pop fan has gone through this clown phase, and honestly, it’s one of the most fun parts of the journey. Those silly beliefs we once held now make the best stories to laugh about. And let’s be real, baby stans have some of the most creative imaginations out there 😂 So tell me, what are the funniest or weirdest things you used to believe when you were new to K-pop? Spill your baby stan confessions below, let’s make a thread full of nostalgia and collective clownery~🩷 submitted by /u/LunaVixen7 [link] [comments]
