The subreddit is mostly uncensored as long as people follow the rules. Generalizing statement about Korea, Korean society, etc or most other countries are not acceptable except under the following standards: The only claims that are acceptable when generalizing Korean society in this sub are those that bring up generalizable stastical claims by the standards of the international statistics institute. Not only do the vast majority of stastistics you can find on the internet about Korea not up to this minimum, basic standard but this requirement includes having ample sample size, blocking by relevant demographics and sometimes even double blind tests. So if you make a generalizing claim, your wording must be properly formatted and links to the relevant studies provided. In other words, the standard for making a generalization is very high in this sub. Not to mention the wording for your claim has to be properly made. Anyone who has taken a college level statistics class will know what I am talking about and we may even require you to provide the confidence level interval if it's relevant for your study. When I look around, it feels like we barely have any male groups that dominate public attention anymore (by that, at the very least, general kpop circle). Nowadays, it seems like girl groups are the ones constantly getting headlines and viral moments. 4th gen especially feels like a clear turning point. The only major exception I can think of is Stray Kids, who seem to be among the few 4th gen acts that actually broke through to the top tier. But when I look back at the hall of fame of boy groups; BTS, EXO, BIGBANG, Super Junior, TVXQ, it makes me wonder: What did they have that others don’t? Was it timing? Charisma? Individuality? Musical identity? Or something else entirely? Yall i finally checked my alt Insta acc and saw a reel dragging down other groups to say "BTS PAVED THE WAY" like I don't understand this ... Yes BTS gave exposure to many kpop stans but wouldn't the fans stan the other group the same . Is it really fair to say other groups are famous because of BTS , it's like we don't acknowledge the other groups hardwork or talent at all , no hate to BTS , just my opinion feel free to do the same. Watching newer groups debut lately, I’ve noticed how “polished” everything feels the visuals, the choreography, the PR responses. It’s impressive, but I miss seeing a bit of personality slip through. Second and third gen idols used to have awkward interviews, goofy variety show moments, and genuine off-stage energy. Now, everything feels so filtered that I sometimes can’t tell who the real person is behind the idol. I'm not an Aespa stan, their music is pretty hit or miss for me. But I was pleasantly surprised when I heard Dirty Work for the first time and very quickly had it on repeat. I just stumbled upon the fact that apparently it was very poorly recived? I feel like it's one of their best in my opinion. Love the vibe of the song, and hope they do more like it. I just went on Youtube and saw 'apt' in my recommendations. I know of the song obviously, it was everywhere a few months ago, but my eyes practically popped out of my skull when I saw the view count... 2 BILLION?? the song isn't even a year old yet. I clicked on the video and got recommended kpop demon hunters music videos and had the same reaction because the views are HIGH, especially for not even being 4 months yet. Now obviously these songs were hugely popular for just the general public, but there's one demographic that I think is underestimated that contribute majorly to these numbers... kids. Remember those video's of kids being obsessed with APT a few months back? Or just now kids and their obsession with Kpop demon hunters? You might be thinking 'well obviously they might bring in some of the views' but I think it's a lot more than just 'some'. Just look at COCOMELON. BTS and BLACKPINK might have around 8 MVs with over a billion views respectively, but they don't have anything on COCOMELON, that channel has like 22 videos with over a billion views, with the banger 'the wheels on the bus' at 8 BILLION All that to say, kids will watch things again and again and again and again... They make great streamers lol. This isn't meant to discredit how popular the releases are, because I mean it would be stupid to try and make that point when the songs were unavoidable, but I guess with this also comes the sentiment that views often don't mean everything lol. I am so excited for her, this is her first collab with another artist. I remember being surprised when zayn attended BLACKPINK concert with his daughter, but now I know he was invited by jisoo. It's a ballad song not pop , so I don't think this is for views.
