So yes, do you think buying fake kpop merch is harmless or low key betraying the group? Considering how expensive, limited, and sometimes low-quality official merch can be, where do you draw the line? submitted by /u/Lucky-Trust5658 [link] [comments]
So, I had this idea a few years ago to write a Danganronpa or Alien Stage style fic with different groups. I already know I wanna add in BTS, Red Velvet and EXO, any other suggestions? submitted by /u/Calm-Comfortable2659 [link] [comments]
For me it has to be ILLIT'S Moka! This girl is just soooo beautiful to me. Everything from her facial features, her hair, and her body proportions are just absolutely flawless. Add in her top tier facial expressions and stage presence, she really is the total package. It blows my mind that she is rarely brought up in the top 5th gen visual conversation! submitted by /u/tzukani_ [link] [comments]

This has been bothering me for a while, and I donât really have anyone to talk to about it, but Iâm so frustrated with how people are spamming ONEUS (on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram) with the Saudi Arabian flag over a misunderstanding from years ago. It just keeps getting worse as time goes on, and no one seems to be talking about it! It all started when a tweet from Celebs Arabic and a TikTok video (posted by someone who just reposted the tweet) went viral in 2023. This happened a whole year after ONEUS had already visited Saudi Arabia. The tweet included mistranslated phrases from a fan meet in 2022 that claimed ONEUS said "there were no taxis. We partied in the desert and rode on camels" People took this at face value and believed it without question. The most frustrating part is that I looked into the Celebs Arabic Twitter page, and it doesnât seem reliable OR official at all! There were no sources to back up what ONEUS supposedly said. The page mostly just reposts other peopleâs viral videos without credit, so I find it hard to believe people are trusting it without doing any research. It feels like a lot of people who donât even know the group are just jumping on the hate train, spamming the comments simply because they assume ONEUS said something offensive. Some people from Saudi Arabia have said, "It doesnât matter, they should have known better. ONEUS knew what they were saying, so itâs insulting to the country." But when asked why it was insulting, many just repeated that the camel comment was rude without offering any real explanation. Instead, the comment sections are flooded with Saudi flags, rude remarks about ONEUSâs music and appearance, and even comments mocking Korea. Itâs honestly a little scary and confusing when looking at the comment sections and no one explaining anything unless somebody said something to them. It wasnât until I saw a TikTok explaining the situation that I finally understood. Apparently, saying you rode a camel in Saudi Arabia can be taken as an insult because it implies the country is uncivilized or primitive. Many people are proud of how modern and developed their cities are, and they donât want others thinking otherwise. I had no idea that saying riding a camel could be seen that way, and I really doubt that was ONEUSâs intention. They actually complimented the country, calling the buildings beautiful and fancy. Even talked about how they had to mind their actions to not cause offense. I truly donât believe they meant any harm. They were probably just excited about experiencing something thatâs not common in Korea and was likely suggested as a tourist activity. I'm sure there is something foreigners would like to see or wish to do in a country they have never visited. I completely understand why people would get upset if they believed their country was insulted. I really do. But spamming, attacking, and demanding an apology ( some even demand them to weep and beg for forgiveness) just for a comment about wanting to ride a camel seems extreme to me. Itâs just frustrating because ONEUS really doesnât mean any harm. They got excited over a camel and shared their story with fans but it was taken out of context and the wrong way. Now theyre being hated for no reason! submitted by /u/_Lychee_777 [link] [comments]
The last kpop concert i attended was kcon LA 2016. (the best lineup ever, if you ask me) After 2016, i just completely stopped listening to kpop. Iâve been to the weeknd concert, kendrick lamar, Sza, as well as huge EDM raves & none of them even come close to the type of manners and respect kpop fans have at concerts. I was at GDâs concert last night and the people infront of me kept looking back at me and making sure theyâre not blocking my view & constantly moving their heads to the side / ducking so i can see better. (Even though these were inclined seatings and they were not blocking my view at all lol) It also felt like they kept making sure I was having fun because they noticed I was alone. They would often turn around and say things like âIts so fun omgđâ and honestly these small gestures meant a lot to me since it was my first Kpop concert after almost a decade. and my first time ever going to a concert alone. And i completely forgot about freebies at kpop concerts lol so many people randomly walked up to me and asked if i wanted a freebie. THIS DOESNT HAPPEN AT NON KPOP CONCERTS đđđđđ Iâm korean but i still had a culture shock. Kpop community culture shock. Im so used to seeing people being angry drunks, fighting over not saying âexcuse meâ and sometimes even physical fights at U.S artist concerts LMFAO submitted by /u/Which_Mammoth9402 [link] [comments]

before yall come for me, yes i know this is a topic being discussed over on twt right now but im not talking about WHO we think has star power, i wanna know how you guys define it. i wanted to discuss this since i was scrolling through threads and a lot of people bring up things like numbers, streams, songs, etc. personally, i feel like start power is when someone walks into a room, and immediately commands attention. somebody who can just stand there and make headlines. someone whoâs seen wearing something and everyone run to get it. to me, thatâs star power. itâs control and itâs attention with little effort. everyone knows that quote from Bang PD where he says something like âyou can teach singing and dancing, you canât train star qualityâ. Now, I do not like that man, but that statement is so true. I do think idols can GROW into start power as their careers and success go up, but I feel like having it means commanding attention the moment one enters the room. not streams, not music quality, not even stage presence. Iâm talking someone who can just stand there and can become #1 trending. THAT is my personal definition. submitted by /u/Outrageous-Ad7806 [link] [comments]
I have no doubt that K-pop companies will keep pushing harder and harder into the USA market. Iâm pretty sure that push is only going to get stronger over time. The reasonâs simple: the American music market is huge, and K-popâs main demographic in South Korea is shrinking. Thereâs not much room left for growth there, just a slow decline. But the big question still stands: Do you think K-pop will actually become mainstream in the USA? submitted by /u/Striking-Meal-5257 [link] [comments]
I just attended GDâs concert last night and I paid a lot of money for âgoodâ seats but he ended up only performing in the main stage rather than the extended stage so the view was just underwhelming and i was basically just looking at the screen the whole time. If i was gonna look at the screen the whole time, i couldve paid half of the price i paid and stayed in the nosebleeds đ idk how to accept this and get over it lmfao im upset submitted by /u/Which_Mammoth9402 [link] [comments]
