The subreddit is mostly uncensored as long as people follow the rules. Generalizing statement about Korea, Korean society, etc or most other countries are not acceptable except under the following standards: The only claims that are acceptable when generalizing Korean society in this sub are those that bring up generalizable stastical claims by the standards of the international statistics institute. Not only do the vast majority of stastistics you can find on the internet about Korea not up to this minimum, basic standard but this requirement includes having ample sample size, blocking by relevant demographics and sometimes even double blind tests. So if you make a generalizing claim, your wording must be properly formatted and links to the relevant studies provided. In other words, the standard for making a generalization is very high in this sub. Not to mention the wording for your claim has to be properly made. Anyone who has taken a college level statistics class will know what I am talking about and we may even require you to provide the confidence level interval if it's relevant for your study. If you cannot meet these standards, I would just avoid doing it in general. submitted by /u/Kpop_Love_Forever [link] [comments]
What happened with hybe x ryan tedder global boy group thing? Genuinely curious. Their announcement was huge but now its just crickets Didnt they start auditions like 9 months ago? I just checked their site and it seems like the auditions are still going on and there’s like no updates on whats happening lol I’m sure forming a group takes a long time but I wish we can hear some updates. I wonder if they’ll basically do another dream academy 2.0 or switch things up this time. Either way im just excited to see what gonna happen with the global boy group submitted by /u/Which_Mammoth9402 [link] [comments]
Yoonchaes sexualization is getting out of hand. And I need to rant about what I saw on my fyp. Because people are using her being almost 18 as a way to avoid saying she is being sexualized. And they are weaponizing willful ignorance. On one hand you have people that saying she's not being sexualized and she's a adult and we need to stop babying her. Then on the other hand we have people that are making it aware that Yoonchae is being sexualized in at least some way. But the other side refuses to listen and just keeps repeating she's almost 18 over and over. Recently I have been getting more and more worried for her since the 5 gum collab came out. Yes I understand it's not her actual breath in the jar but it's still weird that's the way they are promoting it whether or not there is a minor. And then the kiss mark from a 17 year old. Which is so weird?? Like why?? You could have done something different than the kiss mark and breath in the jar to fit your 5 senses marketing. Then we have the one the only(many) sexual posts about Yoonchae. Including the the photos I have shown with the full comment section. Which is full of weirdos and the fact is is that they still haven't been TAKEN DOWN even though a lot of people have been reporting it since she's a MINOR!! And the fact the woman that is posting these photos is not doing it out of innocence to spread awareness to Yoonchaes posts. No this woman follows porn posts including posts with other KPop female idols. So no I do not believe they don't know what they are doing. I can't with fans that say she isn't sexualized and that she wants to do it. What do you mean she still wanted to dance and sing in a song with a literal porn audio in it. Also with the fact that she's is the one in the center while it happens. I have seen and reported many inappropriate photos/comments but it seems to be taking a long time. Also when people bring up the fact she wears really short clothing during performances and people say she picked it out or she dresses herself. What do you Mean!!! Just because in a behind the scenes clip it shows daniella asking for her shirt to be more shorter doesn't mean Yoonchaes doing the same. I don't think they have as much control over what they wear than most people think. Or the fact that Daniella and Lara dress more revealing so of course Yoonchaes fine with it too??? Like whatttt? I think Yoonchae dresses the most conservative than the members(could also be because she grew up in Korea) but it could also mean it's her personal style. What about the VMA performance where she looked uncomfortable because of her dress later revealed that she had a wardrobe malfunction right before she went on the stage. She still looked UNCOMFORTABLE! Also the Gabriela choreography with her as a MINOR getting down on her knees and going up and down on the ground and the turns and does the little leg thing. And fans said it wasn't sexual or suggestive at all. And it was okay because hybe gave her a long piece of cloth attached to her dress so it wasn't inappropriately anymore. Or when they did it in shorts with her supposably being the longest while wearing tall thin heels. Finally almost done the gnarly choreography. I get it she's 17 but why is she twerking in short shorts or a short skirt. Also the other members do more sexual and suggestive choreography and people said "thank you for protecting Yoonchae by not making her do that" it's still in the choreography with her in it as the center it's still Suggestive. And with the fact someone asked the members I think Lara and Sophia if they could marry Yoonchae. A MINOR!! Doesn't matter if the were younger we don't know their age they could be a old creep.Thankfully they denied it and people said they were protecting Yoonchae. Also those edits of Yoonchae twerking in slow mo or her slowed down Gabriela part with the most raunchy song in the background is still not good. Yoonchae is a minor she's 17 years old and turns 18 in December. I'm worried what's going to happen especially since this is already happening when she is still a Minor. submitted by /u/PrinceRowanthegreat [link] [comments]

I can sing decently, but cannot dance. I can speak korean casually, but am not fluent. I think I am pretty good looking and fit a lot of korean standards. Is it too late for me to audition and become one? submitted by /u/Specialist-Sector-17 [link] [comments]

I’ve been reading about Steve Yoo (Yoo Seung-jun) and how he used to be massive in the 90s (like one of the biggest stars in Korea). I understand that he avoided military service by giving up Korean citizenship, and that’s obviously a very sensitive issue in Korea… but I’m trying to understand why the hatred toward him is still so intense after all these years. It's been like what, over 20 years? From what I’ve seen, there have been quite a few celebrities who either didn’t serve or had exemptions, including some with full Korean citizenship. There are also gyopo idols and celebrities who legally don’t have to enlist. Yet Steve Yoo seems to be treated like the ultimate traitor, to the point where he’s basically banned for life. I am not defending what he did just to clarify...I just want to understand why his situation is seen as so unforgivable compared to others who also never served. If anyone can explain the cultural context or why people still feel so strongly about him, I’d appreciate it. submitted by /u/savingrace0262 [link] [comments]

This is a quick part two as the first post was getting pretty big and long as it was, and as someone who uses reddit mostly on their computer, I was worried for mobile users lol. But as I was explaining in the first half of this which you can read here [I listened to NCT and their solo comebacks for the first time in years]. I'm not sure if its the same for others, but for me, I've kinda always thought that when you leave a fandom you tend to step away from the group overall but I don't think we as kpop fans mention it enough that you can go back to listening to that group or supporting from the sidelines and that's completely okay. For me, I actually enjoyed a lot more of NCT Wish's (the latest youngest group of NCT), music a lot more then I thought I would. 'Color', 'Surf', 'Pop Pop' and 'Steady' are really good songs overall, I enjoyed this stage of 'Surf'. I thought they suited the outfits so well and I loved that stage. For NCT 127, Sticker was... well Sticker and I didn't listen to the full song. But overall, I did like Lemonade, Breakfast and the Rainy Night far more. While Sunny Road was a good song I think I like Be There for Me and Colors far more. But I totally understand why Fact Check went viral within the fandom, its a very catchy song with cool visuals, I enjoyed the dance practice for it as well!. For Be There for Me, I really loved the Christmas Stage Special Video (NCT127) did for Christmas with Inkigayo, while the year end ver stage video had the cutest outfits and the members just did really well. NCT Dream. Even if the song/lyrics weren't my favourite thing in the world, I can give credit where its due, the overall visuals and aesthetics of 'Smoothie' were really really cool in my opinion. From the dance practices to this music stage with music bank, I really enjoyed it overall. I also enjoyed the songs, 'Skateboard', 'Blue Wave', 'SOS' from their 3rd album and 'When I'm with you', 'Best of Me', 'YOU' and 'Heavenly' from their dreamscape album. (I also liked the concept/song for Rains in Heaven and Moonlight singles that they released in 2024). WayV. Ever since the beginning, WayV has easily been one of the units I've supported the most, I just loved the overall vibe from the members and their voices. So far, I have listened to the Highest Album where I enjoyed 'Deep Ocean', 'Go Higher' and 'What a Good Time'. I am hoping to listen to High Five Single, Big Bands (7th mini album) and FREQUENCY here soon. submitted by /u/Responsible-Box2876 [link] [comments]
