Hello... This is so weird. Like I genuinely thought I was being paranoid (I have anxiety and am sometimes quite paranoid and thus actively watch who sees my stories on Instagram etc.) I have a casual account. It's not private, but the people who follow me are either my friends or other people who know me through others or social circles etc etc... So even the people I don't follow back, are people I can understand why they follow me. Sometimes random accounts watch my stories but there's often always a reason for it, like me joining in on a template. But lately, around the same time I started following this one nugu group, some anonymous private accounts who don't follow me have been watching my stories every now and then. I've kept count of them and taken screenshots just in case, and they're mostly accounts that seem to specifically be made for "lurking", as in, some of them don't follow anyone or only follow a few people. I brushed it off at first but well... I began finding reasons to think that these accounts could be members of said nugu group. I can explain some more if anyone wants, but for now: I made an entirely new account just to test it. Different email and everything to my original, so the algorithm doesn't know it's owned by the same person as my original account. I even started following random mainstream people, like Ariana Grande and some football players etc. just to fool the algorithm more. Then, I went to search up those accounts that had been watching my original account's stories, and the suggestions under many of those accounts included members of the nugu group. I even went to check some of the members' followers and many of the accounts that followed anyone, followed them. So they are definitely connected somehow. And I don't think these could all be just fans of the group because why would they make separate obvious lurking profiles? Like some of them don't have a profile picture and their username is just gibberish, random numbers, or just a keyboard smash. Although I've had my doubts, I talked to a few of my friends about this and now we're convinced that they are the members' alt accounts. Timing and everything, it can't be a coincidence even though it feels ridiculous to think that members from a group I love are lurking on my profile.... My friends even joked I'm gonna get casted lol cause I post dance videos on my profile a lot and my posts are overall already quite "K-pop idol personal Instagram"-vibe (quote from my friend) I've been in the K-pop scene since 2012 and nothing like this has ever happened to me. I was wondering if it happens to anyone else? Is this normal? Should I feel embarrassed that they're potentially making fun of me together or something? I know many of you might feel like it's hard to believe and trust me I don't fully believe it either but I have no other explanations so far. They're actually nugu btw, so it makes sense they're more interested in their fans cause they don't have super many, but still... I'm not going to say any names though, for now. TLDR: I highly suspect members of a group I follow are looking through my Instagram on alt accounts- anyone with a similar experience? submitted by /u/BicycleNo1181 [link] [comments]

Just read an NBC news article about the announcements for suspension of many US-bound international shipments, including from South Korea, due to the recent rule changes for the Trump Tariffs. Aside from many, many (way more important) issues that this is gonna cause (obviously) but pertaining to our shared interest here, US Kpop fans will probably have to find alternative ways to get new album releases or even skip getting new albums altogether and just support their faves with streams and digital purchases and such. And with touring getting that much tougher for many artists (not even just within Kpop) these days, could this lead to Kpop companies increasingly deprioritizing the US and maybe shift towards opening market spaces like China (who have been slowly opening up their restrictions on K-media)? Not the end of the world for US Kpop fans, of course, but it might have ramifications across the Kpop industry. Any thoughts? submitted by /u/NomadPrime [link] [comments]

By that I mean the one who keeps everyone together and helps the dynamic function. I know most people would say that a group wouldnât work without even one member, which is fair, but what member do you think really solidifies their relationship as a group? For my 3 groups: I believe a few members of Ateez have all said Wooyoung fills this role, which I totally see Shineeâs was definitely Taemin- they could hate each other at points but came through for him so many times. K-pop equivalent of doing it for the kids With seventeen Iâm not too sure, I think there are a few options but would like to hear other carats opinions submitted by /u/jakylln [link] [comments]
I have been watching some clips and some comparisons between reddit fans vs yt fans vs twitter fans vs ig fans of a particular group. And the thought crossed my mind that one day sooner or later these fans will have to satisfy themselves with their idols getting married and moving on in their life. Older groups who are active for more than 10 years have been slowly shifting to that part of their life. Fans back then used to be much more mature than how it is now, where 80% of newer fans being teenagers who canât think past 4-5 years when it comes to their future. They get so much attached to their idols that it turns into unhealthy obsession. Harming oneself for the person who doesnât even know you exists in particular. Twitter stans are such examples to take and learn to what things NOT to do when it comes to stanning an idol or a group. Anyways, so yaa idk how these so-called diehard fans will take in when that day comes but as I say itâs what reality does. submitted by /u/Daddy1007a [link] [comments]

I saw Big Ocean live on August 9th in Raleigh NC! I got to meet them as well which was amazing! They are genuinely so talented and underrated! Stan them! Also the Yes Or Yes, Fancy You, Two Taste Of Love, and Two Eyes Wide Open albums I got for free! With all the inclusions too! submitted by /u/Confident_Growth406 [link] [comments]
Are there any examples of idols who were among the least popular members of their group, but then they achieved way more popularity as a soloist? From what I've seen, idols who are the most popular in their groups also have the most successful solo projects, while less popular members are also less popular as soloists. But I'm interested if there are less popular group members that were able to break out by going solo. submitted by /u/eveningsnewestetoile [link] [comments]
Disclaimer: this isnât a hate post towards the girls. Theyâre doing their jobs well. Full hate towards jypusa and the people making decisions. When I say âtheyâ thatâs who Iâm referring too Also Iâm super happy KG is free from jyp and that situation has been resolved. You donât get happy endings like that often in kpop ââââââââââââââââââââââ I donât know what is going on inside the minds of the creative directors at jypusa, but theyâre addicted to setting up these poor girls for failure. Credit where credit is due, redebuting under a different name and concept is a great idea. Girlset is a better name if not generic, certainly better than Vcha. However, you put these girls on a hiatus for well over a year on top of the previous hiatus since before KG left and go radio silent. And when you do make your grand rebranded debut and itâs a 2 minute song? Not even a music video? Filmed in a dressing room? They didnât even label this song as a pre release or whatever so either they: 1: donât know how to set expectations 2: theyâre struggling financially and canât afford a proper redebut 3: or they actually think this songlet is enough to satisfy fans Speaking of fans, besides the incredibly vocal vlights, I canât imagine vchaâs casual listeners are gonna get much out of this either. The song itself is a hookless, generic nothingburger. Itâs not even like, so bad or out of pocket it twists around into being good like Gnarly. Itâs boring. The styling also isnât doing anything for anyone other than Camila. Though Savannaâs hair during their first live performance looks good. Iâm not a fashion person, but the MV outfits just arenât eating. The only explanation I have is that they donât show the girls personalities. Like they were chosen from a generic four member girl crush outfit pin on Pinterest I canât imagine locals grabbing onto them either. They arenât offering anything Katseye or more independent girl groups are offering but better. Especially with the controversies that dwarfed literally everything else either their names attached. With the new concept, itâs hard not to imagine that eyekons will think Vcha rebranded to better compete with katseye or âreheat their nachosâ or whatever. So thatâs more shit they have fresh off their redebut The only was I see the creative team fixing this is if they get a really good creative director in tune with what the members want to do as a group and or let the members make creative decisions. But JYPUSA hasnât given me a reason to think theyâll do that submitted by /u/LavaRoseKinnie [link] [comments]
kpopped was recently released and i binged watched the episodes this morning during work 𼲠it made me think though during Patti LaBelleâs episode that mamamoo would have been a great addition to the show! i know obviously theyâre doing solo stuff currently and possibly for the foreseeable future but they would have done great. who would you want to see? submitted by /u/user37532 [link] [comments]
just saw the other post and was wondering if any idols have explicitly said theyâre atheist..? would be interesting to see, since afaik korea is mostly irreligious but a lot of people still believe in god submitted by /u/kkazugyu [link] [comments]
Apologies to all the actual good Girlset fans Also saying Girlset isn't kpop does not change the fact that the comeback was disappointing (and yes I have seen many fans use this excuse) submitted by /u/SnooOranges829 [link] [comments]
this isnât hate to the girls, but rather the company. and yes ik katseye isnât kpop whatever. but this is more so abt hybe x geffen. the girls obviously canât choose to be born a certain skin tone / ethnicity so this isnât on them whatsoever, but rather the company and their attempt to profit off of the guise of âdiversityâ. katseye is definitely diverse in terms of the members being of different backgrounds, but more than half the entire group is of asian descent (one of them being half white too). the latina in the group is white passing, and the black girl in the group is light skinned and mixed with white. i canât help but feel a disconnect with the diverse and global marketing of the group because it feels like a sneaky way to profit off of being âdiverseâ while still making sure certain types of diversity arenât shown. the girls themselves are extremely talented though and are deserving of being famous & recognized for their skills, so i donât wanna take away from that at all. itâs really more about the way the company handpicked the girls & the trainees in DA. as a black woman i do get tired of never seeing people who look like me, and having a light skinned or biracial person as my ârepresentationâ. now clearly katseye arenât dolls made to represent every person of color, but the company DOES want them to be ârelatableâ to the masses, their race included. or they wouldnât have made a global group with other races besides EA. yet i feel nothing. i do look at fatou as inspiring because she does look like me, but i donât think she gets the attention she deserves. and it really gets me thinking sometimes like, do darker skinned people / black people never audition? i doubt it. they just get overlooked because companies never want their appearance in the group. i really wish companies werenât so afraid to show what a lot of us people of color really look like. itâs another attempt to claim diversity while still trying to build a group of beauty standards. itâs fine if i get hate for this, this is just my opinion and i donât expect everyone to agree or understand my point. at the end of the day this isnât a significant issue but something i had thought about. submitted by /u/Affectionate-Link436 [link] [comments]
No MV. Two minute song that was spoiled for a month. What were they thinking? You have a grand redebut but you are not spending any money.. Why are you so cheap JYP. If you are going to release an Itzy reject then release a reject with dressed in a high budget package. Like Lesserafimâs Unforgiven! And you can tell losing two vocalists did a number on them as Kendallâs voice just doesnât gel in this song at all. Maybe Camillaâs too but she fits the concept at least. While Katseyeâs Debut was also short and had a low budget MV, at least it HAD an MV, wasnât spoiled to death for a month, and was unique sounding compared to what kpop had at the time. And no one was saying members didnât fit the concept. They all did and were able to sell it. Hope Girlset release a Touch level song a month from now and recover like Katseye did because it is not looking good. submitted by /u/mauvebliss [link] [comments]
First off, donât come at me coz I just came across this while scrolling. So wanted to share it and also share my thoughts about it coz itâs been more than a month now. And twice had one more comeback for Japan in the midst of it. submitted by /u/Daddy1007a [link] [comments]
