Articles / Timeline 250422 This day marks one year since HYBE launched their audit of Min Hee Jin and ADOR's management. Happy(?) 1st anniversary of the Megathreads! 250502 The 3rd hearing for Min Hee Jin vs. Belift Lab was set to take place but postponed to July 18th at Belift Lab's request. Each side is due to present their arguments/documents regarding plagiarism issues at the next meeting. (Source: Maeil Kyungjae) 250530 We learned that ADOR had filed for 'indirect enforcement' after their injunction was granted and NewJeans performed at ComplexCon back in March (Filed on April 4th according to the statement from NewJeans' representatives linked below). On the 30th, the 52nd Division of the Seoul Central District court further granted this request. The 'indirect enforcement' ruling means that each individual member of NewJeans will be fined 1 billion won (approx. $725,000) if they continue with entertainment activities independent of ADOR, which would be in violation of the injunction. This enforcement with potential fines does NOT apply to any of NewJeans' independent activities between the granting of the injunction and the granting of this 'indirect enforcement'. These fines will only apply to future activities going forward, or at least until rulings with NewJeans' appeal or the main contract validity case changes anything (next hearing on June 5th). (Source: Chosun Biz, MK Sports) The Korea Herald: Court orders NewJeans to pay Ador 1 billion won for each unauthorized activity Discussion Post Korea JoongAng Daily: Court orders NewJeans members to pay ADOR $725,600 for every independent entertainment activity A statement by NewJeans' representatives was made later in the day primarily acknowledging the indirect enforcement ruling, but reiterating that it is temporary and will no longer have an effect if NewJeans win their appeal of the injunction. (Source: Ilgan Sports) The 2nd hearing for Source Music's damages lawsuit against Min Hee Jin took place at the 12th Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Western District Court. (Quick recap: 1st was January 10th, 2nd was previously scheduled for March 14th, postponed per Source Music's request). Legal representatives were present. Source Music had a 20-minute presentation prepared, but Min Hee Jin's representatives objected to the inclusion of KakaoTalk messages in the presentation. They claimed the messages were illegally obtained and requested the hearing to be closed/private. Source Music denied the messages were obtained illegally, claiming they were gained from company devices with consent. The court went with a temporary compromise to keep the hearing public, but not allow discussion/display of the messages until they were reviewed again. A special hearing to review the messages will take place June 27th. (Source: Sports Today) 250605 The Seoul Central District Court Division 41 held the second hearing for ADOR seeking confirmation of validity for their exclusive contract with NewJeans. Only legal representatives were in attendance. NewJeans' side primarily argued that ADOR had not met their obligations and that their evidence they were preparing to support NewJeans' activities, like finding a new producer, was inadequate. ADOR's side argued that NewJeans' reasons for allegedly terminating their contract continually changed, indicating they are arbitrary and being made up with retroactive hindsight. The issue of some evidence being collected illegally also came up again from NewJeans' side. Judge Jung Hoe-Il specifically inquired if both/either sides were willing to come to an agreement, encouraging them to do so. NewJeans' representatives strongly indicated this was unlikely as the trust in ADOR had completely collapsed. ADOR's representatives indicated they could see negotiating an agreement once the court comes to a final decision. The 3rd hearing was set for July 24th. (Sources: X Sport News, Maeil Kyungjae) 250612 The next hearing regarding the Shareholder Agreement termination and exercising put/call options lawsuits between HYBE and Min Hee Jin was held at the Seoul Central District Court's 31st Division. Arguments from each side mostly re-tread what we've already covered. HYBE's side argued they were justified in ending the shareholder agreement due to the threat Min Hee Jin posed to the company. Min Hee Hin's side argued the timing of the audit/termination did not align purely with that concern and that some KakaoTalk messages and emails were obtained illegally and not admissable as evidence. HYBE also indicated they had a witness to give testimony at the next meeting, which the court accepted. The next hearing with closing arguments, was set for September 11th for both lawsuits. (Sources: Maeil Kyungjae, TV Daily, Sports Today) 250617 Following up from April 16th when NewJeans appealed the court's decision to uphold the injunction and halt on their independent activities, the Seoul High Court reaffirmed the earlier decision. The court rejected NewJeans' appeal. They determined there was no significant change in the material/arguments presented for the appeal and the original decision to grant ADOR's injunction was justified. There was further clarification that the management conflict between HYBE and Min Hee Jin, and her no longer being NewJeans' producer, did not constitute a valid argument for the alleged collapse of trust between ADOR and NewJeans. The group's withdrawal from ADOR is considered arbitrary, that their artistic freedom or activity is not impeded since they are able to do so within their exclusive contract, and that any damages resulting from attempting independent activities are self-inflicted. 1. What do you guys think about the recent US tariff rule changes effect on the Kpop industry's relationship with the US?

  • 23 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Just read an NBC news article about the announcements for suspension of many US-bound international shipments, including from South Korea, due to the recent rule changes for the Trump Tariffs. Aside from many, many (way more important) issues that this is gonna cause (obviously) but pertaining to our shared interest here, US Kpop fans will probably have to find alternative ways to get new album releases or even skip getting new albums altogether and just support their faves with streams and digital purchases and such. And with touring getting that much tougher for many artists (not even just within Kpop) these days, could this lead to Kpop companies increasingly deprioritizing the US and maybe shift towards opening market spaces like China (who have been slowly opening up their restrictions on K-media)? Not the end of the world for US Kpop fans, of course, but it might have ramifications across the Kpop industry. Any thoughts? submitted by /u/NomadPrime [link] [comments]

3. Who do you think the ‘glue’ of groups you Stan is?

  • 35 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

By that I mean the one who keeps everyone together and helps the dynamic function. I know most people would say that a group wouldn’t work without even one member, which is fair, but what member do you think really solidifies their relationship as a group? For my 3 groups: I believe a few members of Ateez have all said Wooyoung fills this role, which I totally see Shinee’s was definitely Taemin- they could hate each other at points but came through for him so many times. K-pop equivalent of doing it for the kids With seventeen I’m not too sure, I think there are a few options but would like to hear other carats opinions submitted by /u/jakylln [link] [comments]

4. Some of these die-hard stans don’t realise that someday soon their faves will get married.

  • 36 minutes ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

I have been watching some clips and some comparisons between reddit fans vs yt fans vs twitter fans vs ig fans of a particular group. And the thought crossed my mind that one day sooner or later these fans will have to satisfy themselves with their idols getting married and moving on in their life. Older groups who are active for more than 10 years have been slowly shifting to that part of their life. Fans back then used to be much more mature than how it is now, where 80% of newer fans being teenagers who can’t think past 4-5 years when it comes to their future. They get so much attached to their idols that it turns into unhealthy obsession. Harming oneself for the person who doesn’t even know you exists in particular. Twitter stans are such examples to take and learn to what things NOT to do when it comes to stanning an idol or a group. Anyways, so yaa idk how these so-called diehard fans will take in when that day comes but as I say it’s what reality does. submitted by /u/Daddy1007a [link] [comments]

7. Are there idols who became more popular as soloists than they were in their groups?

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

Are there any examples of idols who were among the least popular members of their group, but then they achieved way more popularity as a soloist? From what I've seen, idols who are the most popular in their groups also have the most successful solo projects, while less popular members are also less popular as soloists. But I'm interested if there are less popular group members that were able to break out by going solo. submitted by /u/eveningsnewestetoile [link] [comments]

11. why i don’t feel connected to katseye as a dark skinned black woman

  • 2 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

this isn’t hate to the girls, but rather the company. and yes ik katseye isn’t kpop whatever. but this is more so abt hybe x geffen. the girls obviously can’t choose to be born a certain skin tone / ethnicity so this isn’t on them whatsoever, but rather the company and their attempt to profit off of the guise of “diversity”. katseye is definitely diverse in terms of the members being of different backgrounds, but more than half the entire group is of asian descent (one of them being half white too). the latina in the group is white passing, and the black girl in the group is light skinned and mixed with white. i can’t help but feel a disconnect with the diverse and global marketing of the group because it feels like a sneaky way to profit off of being “diverse” while still making sure certain types of diversity aren’t shown. the girls themselves are extremely talented though and are deserving of being famous & recognized for their skills, so i don’t wanna take away from that at all. it’s really more about the way the company handpicked the girls & the trainees in DA. as a black woman i do get tired of never seeing people who look like me, and having a light skinned or biracial person as my “representation”. now clearly katseye aren’t dolls made to represent every person of color, but the company DOES want them to be “relatable” to the masses, their race included. or they wouldn’t have made a global group with other races besides EA. yet i feel nothing. i do look at fatou as inspiring because she does look like me, but i don’t think she gets the attention she deserves. and it really gets me thinking sometimes like, do darker skinned people / black people never audition? i doubt it. they just get overlooked because companies never want their appearance in the group. i really wish companies weren’t so afraid to show what a lot of us people of color really look like. it’s another attempt to claim diversity while still trying to build a group of beauty standards. it’s fine if i get hate for this, this is just my opinion and i don’t expect everyone to agree or understand my point. at the end of the day this isn’t a significant issue but something i had thought about. submitted by /u/Affectionate-Link436 [link] [comments]

12. The lack of effort in GIRLSET’s debut is downright maddening

  • 3 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

No MV. Two minute song that was spoiled for a month. What were they thinking? You have a grand redebut but you are not spending any money.. Why are you so cheap JYP. If you are going to release an Itzy reject then release a reject with dressed in a high budget package. Like Lesserafim’s Unforgiven! And you can tell losing two vocalists did a number on them as Kendall’s voice just doesn’t gel in this song at all. Maybe Camilla’s too but she fits the concept at least. While Katseye’s Debut was also short and had a low budget MV, at least it HAD an MV, wasn’t spoiled to death for a month, and was unique sounding compared to what kpop had at the time. And no one was saying members didn’t fit the concept. They all did and were able to sell it. Hope Girlset release a Touch level song a month from now and recover like Katseye did because it is not looking good. submitted by /u/mauvebliss [link] [comments]

17. HYBE x Geffen’s thirst for money has been harming trainees for years and it’s not talked about enough

  • 5 hours ago schedule
  • reddit.com language

we all, as kpop stans, are constantly exposed to situations of overworking, starving and exploitation to group members and trainees. lately, i have decided to watch the popstar academy documentary on netflix, and one of my initial thoughts was the reocurring reference of the ‘lack of time’ and ‘rush’ the two labels were facing. now, the intensive training & development program was meant to last one year, which included some girls who had no previous experience in certain artistic areas such as dancing. when you are a huge record label like hybe you simply cannot deny how long you keep some trainees improving for prior to their debut. for example, txt’s yeonjun trained for 4-5 years before debuting in march 2015. so there seems to be no explanation for overpressuring innocent girls just so less than one third of them can be selected to be in a girl group, which btw will have schedules after schedules, tours, promotions, fan events, etc etc. in the beginning of the series, missy and other staff kept saying “oh we don’t have time” “we hope we can carry out the debut as expected” was it that difficult to not cram years worth of severe schedules into one year, all before a secret survival show that the contestants didn’t know of? and no deadlines, no expectations so the girls would have something concrete to work for? “how about we make them live together like a whole family, teach them how to complete each other, make them perform together as a group and then make them compete against each other for a dream they all have?” furthermore the consequences were also physical: lexie had injury which had to be treated with surgery, was on a weelchair for two days and came back after WEEKS of practice wasted, scared of missing out on the competition; emily with her foot fracture that unabled her to dance for 6 weeks (most of the time she was rank #1 in dancing). and the fact this is all normalized between the whole staff team is what upsets me the most. not one single bit of acknowledgement or accountability, and i’d risk pointing out a bit of manipulation. “you all have to be grateful because missy loves you more than you can imagine” well she for sure loves her paycheck a little more. this month, hxg announced an upcoming group that contains former dream academy contestants, which guarantees the preservation of their talents. however, they also mentioned that “the japanese contestants will participate in an intensive training program from october through december”. i sincerely hope these girls have previous experience because if hxg converts an already intensive 1-year t&d program (used in dream academy) into a 3-month one it would be the end of them. but as the excitement is bigger than the concerns, everyone seems to be supporting this collaboration and the survival show/training program. i am as well excited for the group but can’t help but point out how many things are and have been wrong here for a very long time. what do you all think? submitted by /u/F4LLEN_ANG3LL [link] [comments]
